Before I tell you why I love this product, I must tell you how or why I found it. While on a ski trip in 2007, I had an allergic reaction to citrus or at least I thought that was the culprit. My lips broke out in little red bumps and burned terribly. I was miserable. I tried several different products to remedy the issue, but nothing worked. Finally, I ran across this salve, and it worked. I was so relieved! Since then, I have used it faithfully. I absolutely love that it smells like roses. Plus, it’s an all-purpose salve so it can be used on cuticles, elbows, knees, etc. It’s a great product that I really enjoy.2. COCONUT OIL
I’m not going to enumerate the many different benefits of using coconut oil as a beauty product because there are so many. Coconut oil is one of my top 5 because it’s also so versatile. I use it daily to remove my makeup. I rub the oil in my hands, massage it all over my face to break down the makeup, and then remove the oil with a makeup wipe, towel, or just water. I love it! I also use it to moisturize my hair and at times my body. Because it can be used so many different ways, it’s a lot of bang for the buck.
When I got married, I just knew my husband would love all of my good smelling lotions. Boy was I wrong! My husband has sensitivity toward certain scents, so I’d come out of the bathroom moisturized and smelling good, and he’d be fanning and waving like I smelled of sewage. It was funny but not funny. Needless to say, I made it my mission to find a moisturizing lotion that was unscented. This lotion completely gets the job done. It’s a thick, creamy lotion, which I love. It has great ingredients and keeps me moisturized all day. I’ve been using it for years and would highly recommend it. They sell some lovely scented lotions too. 😉
I’ve been natural for almost 10 years now. I’ve had waist length hair and very short hair during that period of time. Of all of the products that I’ve used during my natural hair journey, this is my holy grail hair product! I gravitated toward Giovanni products initially because I knew they were all natural. I would buy them at our local co-op for a discount and shortly became hooked because it really moisturizes my hair. Therefore, it is the first product that I put on my hair during my wash-n-go routine. I also use it if I’m refreshing my natural hair with water. I hope they never stop making this product or change the formula. I love it, and my hair loves it!
Having oily skin can mean large pores if the skin isn’t cared for properly. For this reason, I use a toner during my skincare routine, and for the last few years, it’s been Thayers! One, I love that it smells like a bouquet of roses. (Clearly, I love that scent, but they also have other scents.) It feels like such a luxury when I spread it over my face. Second, because it’s alcohol-free, it doesn’t dry my skin out. It instead moisturizes and refreshes it. Small pores, lovely smell, and refreshed skin. It’s a keeper!

Yes! I got my hands on another Target Beauty Box! I absolutely love these boxes. Next time, I’ll get more and share because they are filled with so many great products!
I haven’t tried all of the products yet, but my favorite so far is the Mayfair Body Creme. I hate having dry hands. My friends and family say I’m OCD about it, but whatever. I hate having dry hands, and this creme is extremely moisturizing! I love it and will purchase it in the future.

Hello world! AnnaGirly has been busy this week! However, I figured… since I’m late responding to my friends and family about this short ‘do that I posted on Instagram, then I’ll just share what I have done on the blog.
I’ve always wanted a bob, and summer just seems like the perfect time to cut hair, right? Well…not exactly. I’ve always been apprehensive about cutting my hair. MY WHOLE LIFE! I remember my mom was combing my hair one day, and she decided she’d give me a bang. I hollered, fussed, and cried. How are you gonna cut somebody’s hair without prior warning?! Discussion?! Anything! LOL That was 5th grade, and I guess that girl inside me who loves her troublesome hair just wants to keep it intact.
Yes, I’ve had a couple of drastic cuts in my life. Well…okay maybe just one. I big-chopped in 2008 to embrace my natural curls. Transitioning just wasn’t an option for me. It just wasn’t! I don’t have the patience to deal with two textures. I applaud those who do.
I wanted to do something different with my long hair. Well, I wanted a bob so I decided to try Annie Jaffrey’s faux bob. Okay so, I love Annie Jaffrey’s blog and her YouTube channel. She talks about eating healthy, fitness, fashion, and beauty. Plus, she’s so darn pretty! I’ve been following her blog for about two years now. She just has awesome tips to share so check her out! Nails weren’t always important to me. They just weren’t. I don’t know…maybe it was the tomboy in me. However, as I got older, my mom taught me how important it is for a woman to have pretty hands. She did this mostly by example of course.
My mother’s hands are always pretty. She paints her nails weekly and sometimes twice a week. More importantly, she makes sure her hands (and elbows) are well moisturized.
Because of her example, I’ve learned to care for my hands. Besides, hands are important, right? I don’t know about you, but at times I talk with my hands. When I meet someone new, I extend my hand to them. Whether you recognize it or not, your hands can say a lot about you. Today, I’m sharing my essentials for pretty hands! Hopefully, this will help ensure your hands are saying the right things about you. 😉
An All-Natural Moisturizer
There are certain lotions that I just cannot and will not do. They may smell great, but do they moisturize? I am a chronic lotion wearer, and all natural lotions tend to penetrate more and to keep my hands moisturized longer. Alba is my absolute favorite brand! I buy it in the 32oz bottle for home use, but my purses would tell a different story. Here are three of my favs:
The skin around my nails is really sensitive. If not well lubricated, they will crack and peel. To protect and moisturize my cuticle, I apply some type of oil around my nails every other night before bed, and it’s typically coconut oil. These may be helpful if you don’t have coconut oil:
Whether you have acryllic, shellac, or natural nails, a grooming kit is a must! I can recall several times where I’ve had to fix a broken nail quickly. Also, if you do your own manicures, using a grooming kit is an easy way to fool everyone. Nobody has to know that you do your own mani. I think these kits are super cute:
I’m not saying that your natural nails aren’t pretty enough. I am saying that polish is definitely more fun and versatile. Now, there are zillions of polishes out there. You can get nail polish at the dollar store. So…does it matter which type of polish you choose? For sure! Despite who is painting your nails, you want the polish to stay put (minimal chipping) and you want it to stay pretty (pigmented). These are my favorite brands that deliver that and more:
If you’re washing the dishes or planting flowers, make sure you protect your hands with gloves. This will prevent unnecessary drying of the skin and unwanted dirt under your nails. Also…if you are going to wear gloves, why not get some cute ones? How about these:
